Description:
How, when it came down to it, did the Allies win the Second World War? How did they win the Battle of the Atlantic, blunt the Nazi blitzkrieg, work out how to land successfully on an enemy-held shore on D-Day, and 'hop' across the islands of the Pacific to assault the Japanese mainland? In Engineers of Victory Paul Kennedy reveals the role of the problem-solvers and middle-men who made it happen - such as Major-General Perry Hobart, who invented the 'funny tanks' which flattened the D-Day beaches; or Captain 'Johnny' Walker, who worked out how to sink U-boats with a 'creeping barrage'. By brilliantly answering the 'how' question, he brings a fresh perspective to the greatest conflict in human history. 'Consistently original . . . Like an engineer who pries open a pocket watch to reveal its inner mechanics, Kennedy tells how little-known men and woman at lower levels helped win the war . . . An important contribution to our understanding.' Michael Beschloss, The New York Times Book Review 'Compelling, lucid and original . . . Kennedy has produced a fresh perspective on the war' Nigel Jones, Sunday Telegraph 'His refreshing study . . . asks the right questions, disposes of clichés and gives a rich account of neglected topics.' David Edgerton, Financial Times 'Colourfully and convincingly illustrates the ingenuity and persistence of a few people who made all the difference.' Washington Post 'This first-rate book makes us reflect on the past and also leads us to think more deeply about the present and future.' Graham

Falls apart after 5 wash cycles
Terrible. Do not buy. Only last 5 wash cycles before unraveling and falling apart. Also, uncomfortable as hell.

Disappointing, durability despite softness
Size: X-Large, Color: Organic Cotton 2 (5 Black)
I really wanted to love these underwear. The material is incredibly soft and has a nice, thick feel that seemed promising at first. Unfortunately, the quality doesn’t hold up. After about 12 washes, the seams started coming apart, and within two months, I had to throw away two of the five pairs because the fabric separated from the waistband. It’s frustrating because they were so comfortable initially, but the poor stitching makes them a bad investment. I wouldn’t recommend these unless the company improves their durability or you’re OK with losing One or two pair of the five

Super soft and comfortable!
I haven't bought new underwear in forever. I used to wear thongs, but now find them incredibly uncomfortable. The last few times I've tried to buy new underwear, the sizing was either way off (I'm a medium, but gave up after having to return them for a large and then extra large) or the quality was horrible (two brands stretch waaaay out and they can fall down while wearing them (I have larger ass-ets, so they shouldn't start to slide down during use). I tried these after buying some bamboo pyjamas and I love them! They are incredibly soft, comfortable, and stretchy. I can use them all day, and they work well, whether I'm lounging on the couch or wearing them under my spandex shorts at the gym, they don't ride up or slide down. They are both comfortable and look sexy, while providing support in all the right places. I haven't had them too long, so I can't speak on the durability, but they appear to be of good quality and I plan to order more, this time without the band.

Well made, light fabric. Waist doesn't roll.
These bamboo underwear really do keep you cool.
They fit true to size, and wear easily. the wide elastic waist band doesn't roll on me.
They are comfortable to wear, washed and dried easily.
The material has some stretch to it, but not a lot.
Well made, no stray strings. Perfect fit for me.
Just what I was looking for.
